- It's early in the morning. For some reason I'm once again fighting a string of insomnious nights. HATE that. It comes and goes. The last 4 nights I've been awake a lot. Too tired to get up and do anything useful and to awake to sleep. boo.
- Two years ago today we moved into our current apartment. It's once again filling up with boxes. I've never really done a cross country move with this much stuff and furniture and what not. When I moved down here, I didn't bring hardly any furniture with me. We wanted to get a moving company and that would be more convenient, but also more $. So unless something amazing comes along in the next week or so, we'll use a "we pack and load, they drive" type of dealy. The other thing about moving companies that I wasn't expecting is that they can take forever to deliver your stuff. One place even told me they don't guarantee anything less than 21 days. Ummmmm, a little odd, no? Where are you going to have my bed for 21 days exactly?
- I'm happy to report that to date, the grand total cockroach sightings has been 2 in the last 2 years (knock on wood) - both last summer, once when I came out into the living room in the middle of the night to feed my newborn and something scurried across the floor. The man killed it and I never again sat in the living room alone feeding in the middle of the night. Too many freaky mental images.
- That is considerably less cockroach sightings than our former abode.
- Moving is always such a weird, in-limbo, displaced, "is this really happening?" feeling.
- Last night our church had a farewell for us during the usual once a month get together thingy. There were so many kids and you could barely hear yourself think. It sort of reminded me of my family Christmas get togethers. I wanted to make Dave a nice congratulatory cake, but alas, time got away from me and he got a tacky cake from Target instead (FYI - the Target bakery makes a killer cake. who knew. Well, I did, cause I had some once before)
- We're not sure yet when we're packing all our stuff up. We were going to do it Tuesday but now we might try to get it done Saturday since it would be easier to get some help with loading on a weekend. Saturday? gasp. They will come haul all our stuff away and we'll camp out in an empty apartment till after graduation and head out for good probably on Sunday (2 weeks from yesterday). I'm sort of looking forward to an empty apartment - the STUFF sitting around is a little overwhelming right now.
- Not sure what happened to all Dave's time off and all the fun and relaxation we were going to have before getting busy with packing. ha. How do things like that just evaporate?
- How to you teach toddlers to be civilized little humans that are joyous to live with? This is the question.
- Mom or Dad: "What does the duck say? Aleah: "quack quack" (or some approximation thereof). M or D: "What does the sheep say?" A: "BAAAA" (very distinctly). M or D: "What does the cow say?" "BAAAAAA!!" No moooo! BAAAAAA! no MOOOOO! BAA (giggle giggle) BAA! (giggle) Ok, whatever.
- How in the world are we quacking and baaing? Didn't that gross thing on your belly button just fall of? whaaaa...
- Mom to A: "Soon we are going to move far far away and we're going to have a different house, and we won't come back here anymore... etc." A: "Oh WOW!!"
- Well, that might be all. I think the time has come to go back to bed.
- Remembered one more thing to add - yesterday Aleah pulled a new trick - no nap at all, all day. We're really hoping this was a fluke and not some new trend. What in the world. She usually likes going down for a nap and is asleep within minutes. Don't know what in the world was up with that.

July post
I guess it's been awhile since I've been on here and should say something before I go a whole MONTH (gasp!) without a blog post. My rabid fans might go beserk. So without further ado -

Ugh, moving. May God bless you with lots of energy and patience. (And sleep at night.)
yes, please sleep. and we need to skype so i can see her say baaaaa.... :-)
I think it's funny how you bullet pointed everything in this post. And nice trick posting and not telling me. Turkey. : ) At least I noticed pretty quickly, eh?
Thanks for posting! I have been thinking of you and wondering when exactly you were moving and how it was going. A completely empty house for a week sounds wonderful! P.S. have you heard of benadryl or nyquil?Or warm milk and honey? :)
